Maija Timonen is an artist and writer living in Helsinki and London. She works with moving image, intermittently produces critical writing, and is the author of The Measure of Reality, a work of analytic fiction published in 2015 by Book Works, London.
Tatiana Istomina is a Russian-born multi-media artist and writer living in New York. Her projects have been featured in exhibitions and screenings across the United States and abroad; venues include the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, the Drawing Center, the Bronx Museum, Gaîté Lyrique, and Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Istomina is a recipient of several awards including the AAF Prize for Fine Arts, Joan Mitchell Foundation grant, the Chenven Foundation grant, and the Spillways Fellowship. She holds a PhD in geophysics from Yale University (2010) and MFA from Parsons New School (2011).
Roee Rosen (b. 1963) is an artist, filmmaker, and writer. His films include “Out” (2010), which won the Orizzonti award for best medium-length film at the Venice Film Festival. His latest book is entitled Live and Die as Eva Braun and Other Intimate Stories (Sternberg Press, 2017). His art is featured in Documenta 14 (2017). Rosen is a professor at Ha’Midrasha Art College, and at the Bezalel Art Academy, both in Israel.
Zhenya Merkulova is a Russian-born New Yorker. She is a practicing architect, a clandestine writer, and an aspiring maker of very short films.
Kaegan Sparks is a writer, curator, and student in the PhD program in Art History at the CUNY Graduate Center, where her research centers around feminism, labor, and performance from the 1970s to today. From 2014 through 2016, she contributed research, production and editorial support on a series of critical anthologies co-published by the New Museum and MIT Press. In 2015–16, Sparks was a Helena Rubinstein Fellow in the Critical Studies division of the Whitney Independent Study Program. She is currently an Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Fellow at the Graduate Center's James Gallery, where her exhibition "Soft Skills" will be on view in spring 2017.
Matthew Sharpe is the author of the novels You Were Wrong, Jamestown, The Sleeping Father, and Nothing Is Terrible. He has published fiction and nonfiction in the New York Times, Harper's, McSweeney's, BOMB, and Art on Paper. He has a blog called "Very short stories r us.”
Jordan Lord is a filmmaker, writer, and artist. He also studies and works as part of the group No Total, which has presented performances at Artists Space Books & Talks and Arika (Episode 4: Freedom Is a Constant Struggle).
Felix Bernstein is the author of Notes on Post-Conceptual Poetry (Insert Blanc Press) and Burn Book (Nightboat). His writing has been featured in Poetry Magazine, Hyperallergic, and Texte Zur Kunst. With Gabe Rubin, he presented the shows Bieber Bathos Elegy at the Whitney Museum of American Art and Transition Incomplete at MOCA Los Angeles. They are starting a multimedia production company, "The Repeatable Theater.”
Corina L. Apostol is an art historian and curator based in New York. Apostol received her PhD from the Department of Art History at Rutgers University – New Brunswick. Her dissertation is entitled "Dissident Education: Socially Engaged Art from Eastern Europe in Global Context (1980–Present)." She has curated exhibitions at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, the Zimmerli Art Museum, as well as in galleries across Europe. She is the co-founder of the activist art and publishing collective ArtLeaks.
Andrew McNeely is a writer and filmmaker interested in urban form and the social. He recently curated an exhibition entitled Restless Debris at the University of California, Irvine. He lives in Los Angeles.
Keith Sanborn is a media artist, theorist, and translator based in New York.
Nicholas Elliott is a writer and translator who lives in Queens. He has been the New York correspondent for Cahiers du Cinéma since 2009 and is a contributing editor for film for BOMB magazine. He is an occasional filmmaker whose short films have been shown at New Directors New Films (MoMA/Film Society of Lincoln Center) and the Rotterdam International Film Festival, among other venues.
